Look there goes the fat pig…
That is how I feel right now………..
I decided to eat healthy as of Jan 5th of this year. I have not cheated. This week I thought hey down 43 pounds why not treat myself to a little snack. I bought angel food cake, okay it’s not really a treat because it’s not bad at all. No fat, just carbs and sugar. I went to the store and bought the smallest piece I could find. I found one bar that was 5 servings at 172 calories per serving.I went home and had half of a serving which is 85 calories. Well today is another day and I have been feeling so hungry. I have been eating protein, fruit, and usually what I normally eat. As I was looking for something to eat I saw the angel food cake, (you can see where I am going with this). I pulled it out and looked at it and thought don’t do it!!! I thought just one bite would curb my want for it. I took another and another. I think I had about two servings which equals 344 calories and 48 grams of sugar!!!!! I wanted to eat the whole thing I threw it back in the cupboard and called my husband. He was very supportive and I just started crying. I was reading Debs post earlier saying that we never really have this battle conquered. I thought to myself that it’s so true. I told my husband I was a fat pig and of course he chose words of comfort. I feel so bad……… Really bad. I really have an eating problem. I knew I did but today it started at me right in the face. I am happy that I didn’t eat all of the cake but what about next time…
Since I have been feeling so hungry lately I am thinking why?
Here is what’s going on..
1.) Started a new birth control, ortho tri cyclen. I can’t take depo because I will gain to much weight with that one. I am thinking maybe the hormones are just making me a little whacky.
2.) I have been doing a lot of weight training and only consuming 1200 calories. Should I increase it, and by how much?
I know everybody’s body reacts different to different circumstances but I really need some advice…
You didn’t do so bad!
I call myself a fat pig once in a while - in this big head of mine.
Honestly, I have no idea why you’re so hungry. I just wanted to come by and say hi.
Oh yes, I would eat the angel food cake with you too - sounds yummy.
On a serious note, I too have an eating problem and about 99% of us here understand that problem ohhh tooo well.
When I exercise I HAVE to increase my cals but only like by 200 or so, not much.
I don’t call myself a fat pig, I call myself a “fatty” when I am pissed off.
I think it’s great this was your first big test and breakdown, I broke down a lot more often! Hell I still do.
Yes, we all have eating issues but I believe we have it in us to fight them and win.
I would up your cals a little bit. And dont beat yourself up for having a treat! This is for life sweetheart and you cant go your whole life without anything good to eat ever
Thanks everybody!! Husband came home and I made him take the cake out of the cupboard!!
Hey girlie… you’re husband is amazing, he’s so supportive. You’re really lucky. He’ll understand if you dont have sweet stuff that you can binge on in the house. So dont keep it in the house. What I do now is, if I want something sweet, I try to buy a single portion size. If it comes in more than one portion, I take out a portion and throw the rest away so I dont binge on it. Some people see it as wastage… but if it’s in the house, I’d only waste the calories by binging on them.
I can remember when I started a certain birth control (dianette) I was ok for the 1st week, but after that I had uncontrollable hunger. I knew it was the pill makingme hungry so I didnt eat to curb my hunger. As a result, it drove me demented. I had to come off that pill and go on a different one (microlite) which is fantastic. No cravings and my hunger level is completely normal. If the pill you’re on is making you hungry, change it…. there are so many out there, it’s all about finding the one that suits you.
And about the eating and working out. I was at a running seminar 2 weeks ago and a nutritionist gave a brilliant talk on how your nutrition must compliment your workouts to keep your energy and health in check. If you’re working out for over an hour, you do have to increase your carb intake as well as your fluid intake (depending on your sweat rate). It stands to reason, if you workout and break a sweat, you’ve used up calories. You need to take in an average of 1200 calories a day… at the end of the day you’re calorie count should be at 1200, taking into account how many you think you burned exercising. (e.g. if you burned 600cal with exercise… then you need to eat 1800 cal during the day to make sure you have a calorie count of 1200 [1800-600] at the end of the day).
I call myself a hungry hungry hippo all the time. My bf says “that’s not positive thinking” but it’s hard not to think it. We all have our off days. We just can’t let it turn into a off week then month etcccc. Stay Positive and dust yourself off and move forward. We are all here for the same thing and we will all help you push along:)
